At last we find the marijuana smoker’s dream come true, a place to legally relax, light up and dine at America’s first marijuana lounge and restaurant, Lowell Cafe, in West Hollywood, California. Growing their own organic product at Lowell Farms, Lowell Cafe offers premium bud, grown and harvested without the use of pesticides.

What can one expect from the food menu at a restaurant catering to cannabis? Your desire for munchies takes on a whole new meaning at the Lowell Cafe. Food is not secondary to the elegant ambiance at this marijuana lounge; it’s an integral part of it. Although the current law does not permit the infusion of cannabis in food served at the restaurant, the menu is designed to complement the aesthetics of the smoking experience.

Their world-class chef, Andrea Drummer, former chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Los Angeles, is an expert at pairing cannabis with her recipes for dishes that play close attention to textures, seasonings and flavors to enhance the complete experience. The food at this marijuana lounge is also organically grown. Expect the menu to change seasonally as it coincides with Lowell Farms and collaborating area farmers markets’ seasonal harvests.

Whether you’re an experienced Woodstock-type hippie with encyclopedic knowledge of various strains and their effects, a casual smoker or a novice, as long as you’re at least 21 years of age, it makes no difference at the Lowell Cafe. Their Flower Hosts, akin to wine sommeliers, will guide you through your selection process to make your choices the ones right for you, taking into consideration your expectations for the kind of high you wish to have and your level of past experience. You can even watch as they roll a joint especially for you right at your table. If you don’t smoke at all, you’re still in for an unequaled dining experience in a relaxed and heavenly atmosphere.

The restaurant will also feature entertainment at night, including a wide range of music, educational panels and comedy. Situated near the capital of movie-making, it will be the chosen place to host many special events and parties associated with Hollywood.

Walk-in’s are welcome, but until the restaurant opens on October 1, 2019, it will be difficult to determine how long a wait you will have. Reservations can be made up to a month in advance and are strongly encouraged. Until you are able to get there, a wide variety of their fabulous products can be ordered on the Lowell Farms website. Their tee-shirts and ashtrays are certain to be cherished keepsakes, if not valuable collectors’ items.

Everything from the airy and comfortable decor of this marijuana lounge to the menus of food and cannabis exemplifies the social-consciousness of the area with second-to-none grace, style and taste. Of the over 300 businesses that have applied to be awarded on-site cannabis consumption licenses, to date only eight have been licensed. October 1, 2019 will be a red-letter date forever as the first cannabis restaurant, Lowell Cafe, opens in the United States of America. We’ve come a long way, baby!
